Kiwa Centre’s mission goes far beyond rescue and rehabilitation – it’s about advancing parrot conservation worldwide and raising awareness about proper parrot care.
A Story of Macaw Rescue & Recovery
A story of a boy and his bird...
In 2017, Kiwa and her parrot friends were trapped in heartbreaking conditions, suffering from neglect and improper care due to overbreeding for the pet trade. Their lives were filled with suffering – overgrown beaks, deformities from cramped cages, and respiratory issues from poor air quality.
They had no hope.
That is, until people like you stepped in to help.
When Joe Davenport discovered the dire state of his childhood pet, Kiwa, he refused to stand by. He knew something had to be done – not just for Kiwa but for hundreds of other parrots enduring similar horrors. His determination, combined with the support of the World Parrot Trust, sparked a massive rescue effort, giving these incredible birds their first glimpse of hope.
Today, thanks to this effort and the creation of the Kiwa Centre, Kiwa and her companions are receiving the care and rehabilitation they so desperately needed. They’ve been given a second chance at life. But their journey isn’t over – and this is where you come in.
By supporting the Kiwa Centre, you become their hero. Your help allows these magnificent macaws to thrive in a safe, enriched environment. It’s your generosity that ensures their rehabilitation continues. These birds aren’t just survivors – they’re ambassadors, showing the world the importance of compassion and conservation.
With your help, their story can have a happy ending. Together, we can show what love and dedication can achieve. Will you join us in giving these parrots the life they deserve?

Mission
A mission to protect parrots...
The Kiwa Centre was born from a deep commitment to saving
parrots like Kiwa and her companions, starting as a sanctuary for
rescued macaws. Thanks to support from people like you, it has
grown into a global conservation initiative.
Today, the Kiwa Centre’s mission goes far beyond rescue and
rehabilitation – it’s about advancing parrot conservation
worldwide and raising awareness about proper parrot care.
In 2020, a group of Grey parrots, victims of the illegal wildlife
trade, were confiscated in Bulgaria and Hungary. These
incredible birds deserve a second chance. With your help, we are
working with partners to ensure their safe return to the wild in
Africa, where they belong.
You can be the difference for parrots like these.
By supporting the Kiwa Centre, you are not just helping birds in
need – you are taking action to ensure their survival in the wild
and promoting better care for parrots everywhere. Join us, and
become a vital part of this life-changing mission. Together, we
can create a brighter future for these remarkable birds.
